Who is Dennis Pearson?

The actor

Dennis Pearson is an Award Winning American Film and Stage actor. Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Dennis began performing in regional theatre productions after training with the prestigious South Coast Rep conservatory and the Identity School of Acting programs. He soon gained recognition, particularly after his portrayal of Leland Cunningham in BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY directed by the legendary Phylicia Rashad at the historic Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, CA– to which the production received stellar reviews (LA Times Best Theatre of 2022). In 2022, he starred in UNLOCKED, a branded film from Hewlett Packard shot in Mexico City, Mexico and directed by Jonathan Pearson (Unit 9). Unlocked went on to become a Tribeca Film Festival Finalist for Best Branded Film of the Year. And in 2020, Dennis received several nominations on the festival circuit and won Best Actor at the DC Black Film Festival for his role in TINDERBOX directed by Rickey Larke (Grownish, Kenan).

nonprofit work

Dennis and a few fellow actors created a non-profit program at Manazar Gamboa Community Theatre at MacArthur Park in Long Beach, CA in 2014. The focus was designed to teach youth in the LBC inner city (who historically had limited access to theatre programs) the fundamentals of Acting, Improvisation, Writing and Stage Combat. It was an opportunity for them to learn from real, working artists. The program was totally free and open to the community and anyone who had an interest in learning the arts. They also featured showcases once a quarter featuring all students. A personal goal is to one day expand upon the program by building a coalition of supporters who can provide funding, mentorship, programming, and awards to support excellence in the arts.

Additionally, Dennis is a supporter of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, an organization dedicated to helping educate families, fight for patient rights and search for a cure. The storyteller

A storyteller at heart, Dennis has a strong appetency for many sides of the business. Whether it’s acting, writing, directing or producing- Dennis finds true joy when he is allowed to challenge himself creatively and collaborate to find the best course to tell the story.

In his efforts to do just that, he has written, directed and produced on multiple projects. Among those, he is particularly proud of being the creator and Artistic Director of the successful Daycation Theatre Sketch Comedy Show (2014-2016). Always in search of the next mountain to climb, Dennis is currently developing multiple projects including podcasts, a scripted television series, a web-program and is serving as a writer & producer on an upcoming film project soon to be announced.
