LA Times Best Plays of 2022: Blues for an Alabama Sky Review

Blues for an Alabama sky named one of the Best plays of 2022 by LA TIMES

I’m so full of gratitude this morning.

In a year where many audiences were adjusting to the idea of returning to the theatre following the pandemic, artists working in LA turned in some truly fantastic performances. (I personally LOVED and was inspired by Sir Simon Russell Beale’s brilliant performance in the epic LEHMAN TRILOGY production at the Ahmanson.)

But it is an absolute honor to not only be amongst the first artists to help reopen the theatre, but to be mentioned alongside all of the incredible productions throughout the city. The Los Angeles Times has named “BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY” one of the years very Best Productions of 2022.

Thank you so much LA TIMES for recognizing us and a huge Thank You to everyone who came out and supported this beautiful project written by the wonderful Pearl Cleage, directed by the incomparable Miss Phylicia Rashad and performed by an amazing cast of Nija Okoro, Greg Alverez-Reid, Kim Steele, Joe Holt and of course… yours truly, Dennis Pearson. Thank you to every single crew member who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, our covid teams, our wonderful producers and anyone who had a hand in bringing this timely story to the world.
